In the Kansas City area we typically have three squirrel species that can become  and they are the Fox Squirrel and the Grey Squirrel and the little known nocturnal squirrel, the Southern Flying Squirrel.

We trap squirrels; all species of squirrels and through experience and knowledge have become very accomplished squirrel trappers.

The gray squirrel accounts for the majority of squirrels causing nuisance squirrel problems however another species of squirrel, the nocturnal Southern Flying Squirrel can also be a culprit and very hard for anyone but a trained professional to eliminate them.

The gray squirrel bears two litters a wear, one in late winter and one in late summer but here in Kansas we may actually have young present year round since a female squirrel can bear young once every three months if she no longer is caring for a litter.

Generally a young female squirrel is skittish and may be scared out in her first few days however this is also the period of time she is most secretive. Once she has chosen a home for a safety zone or shelter for her young she will do just about anything to remain in the attic until her litter are born, nursing and crawling on their own. This is usually the time period when customers first realize they have squirrels because of all the noise they hear and it’s a lot.



It is not uncommon for attic issues to be seasonal. A den site in the nearby trees may be preferred in the summer months and a attic den site in the winter. However, a female will return to her former birthing site or even her young female offspring and begin choosing an attic over trees for future generations and this is why it is important to have a wildlife control company do a permanent squirrel exclusion and put an end to your home as the chosen squirrel den forever.
